Contact dermatitis rarely needs dermatologic care, as avoiding the irritant can prevent the condition from flaring up and eliminate any symptoms. For atopic dermatitis, there are several treatment options. Most often, symptoms can be managed with topical solutions or prescription medications. In more severe cases, we may recommend injectable treatments or biologics for a more aggressive treatment.

It is recommended to get skin exams once a year in order to maximize the chance of detecting skin cancer early. Living in Florida, we are commonly exposed to harsh sunlight which increases our risk of developing skin cancer. Patients who are frequently in the sun may choose to have exams more frequently. Additionally, if you have any concerns regarding new or unusual growths in the skin, you should schedule a full body skin exam.

The HydraFacial® treatment adds other care to the basic microdermabrasion process. As well as exfoliating and removing dead skin cells, the HydraFacial® treatment adds back nutrients, such as antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and peptides, in a multi-step process that extends the effects of the microdermabrasion itself. One of the most effective hyperhidrosis treatments is Botox®. Although it is most often used to address wrinkles in the face, the neurotoxins in the formula can help prevent sweating by blocking signals to the sweat glands. This completely prevents sweating in the treated areas. In less severe cases or for patients who are just beginning hyperhidrosis treatment, we may recommend a topical treatment. These topical solutions dry the skin to decrease sweating, and can also be very effective.

These processes slowly remove the damaged skin to produce a more even skin tone. In resistant cases, we may recommend laser treatments such as laser skin resurfacing.
