In Clifton, NJ, one such facility that serves the community is North Jersey Dermatology Center. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and informative overview of this center, based on publicly available information and patient experiences, to help New Jerseyans make informed decisions about their dermatological care.
North Jersey Dermatology Center is positioned as a local provider of dermatological services, aiming to address various skin health needs for the New Jersey community. Recent changes in ownership, approximately a year ago from the perspective of one reviewer, have introduced new dynamics to the practice that prospective patients might find relevant. Dr. Tassavor is currently associated with the center and is noted by one long-term patient for his knowledge and good bedside manner. However, it's also indicated that he is not involved in the ownership or management of the practice. For New Jersey residents seeking dermatological care, understanding the full scope of a clinic’s operations, including its patient care philosophy and administrative processes, is crucial. This overview will delve into various aspects of the center, from its location and accessibility to the types of services offered and the nuances of the patient experience as reported by those who have visited. Our goal is to equip local users with comprehensive information to guide their choices in skin health.
---North Jersey Dermatology Center is located at 925 Clifton Ave 2nd floor suite 207, Clifton, NJ 07013, USA. Clifton, New Jersey, is a well-known city in Passaic County, situated in the northern part of the state, making it accessible to a wide range of residents across North Jersey.
Clifton Avenue is a major commercial artery in Clifton, suggesting that the clinic is situated within a professional building that is readily identifiable. Being on the "2nd floor suite 207" indicates that patients will need to access an upper level of the building, which typically implies elevator or stair access. For those traveling by car, parking availability in the vicinity would be an important consideration, as is common in commercial areas. Clifton is also relatively well-served by public transportation. The Clifton train station is approximately an 11-minute walk (0.6 miles) from 925 Clifton Avenue, providing commuter rail access via NJ Transit. Additionally, several NJ Transit bus lines, such as the 702 and 705, have stops very close to 925 Clifton Avenue (e.g., "Van Houten Ave at Clifton Ave" and "Clifton Ave at Van Houten Ave" are just a 2-minute walk away). This public transportation accessibility is a significant benefit for New Jersey residents who may rely on buses or trains for their appointments, ensuring convenience even without a personal vehicle.
---Based on the nature of a dermatology center and specific mentions in patient reviews, North Jersey Dermatology Center provides both general and specialized dermatological services.
General Dermatological Consultations: Patients visit for various concerns, including general skin issues. The presence of doctors and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) indicates that initial assessments and diagnoses for a range of skin conditions are performed.
Mole Examination and Biopsy: Mole assessment is a core service. One reviewer explicitly mentions a mole concern and undergoing a biopsy, indicating the clinic performs evaluations for suspicious moles and takes tissue samples for diagnostic purposes.
Mole Removal: Following a biopsy or assessment, procedures for mole removal are conducted. The provided review details a mole removal procedure, though with negative feedback regarding the experience and outcome.
Diagnosis and Prescription for Skin Conditions: The clinic diagnoses various skin issues and provides prescriptions. One reviewer mentions being prescribed an "OTC vitamin supplement" for an issue, although they felt it was a misdiagnosis.
Skin Cancer Screenings (Implied): As a dermatology center, skin cancer screenings are a standard and essential service for early detection and prevention, even if not explicitly detailed in the provided snippets. The mole biopsy service supports this.
Based on the provided patient reviews, here are some factual features and highlights concerning North Jersey Dermatology Center:
New Ownership: The practice underwent a change in ownership approximately a year prior to one review, transitioning from Dr. Gold's practice.
Dr. Tassavor's Qualities: Dr. Tassavor is described by a patient as "very good," "knowledgeable," and possessing a "good bedside manner." This suggests that the current physician has positive clinical attributes.
Use of Nurse Practitioners (NPs): The clinic utilizes Nurse Practitioners to see patients, as evidenced by a reviewer who saw an NP for their visit.
Online/Phone Center for Communication: Direct phone calls to the office are no longer possible; patients are directed to a "phone center that is obviously out of the country." This indicates a centralized, possibly outsourced, communication system.
Long Wait Times: Multiple reviewers report significant wait times, with one spending "one hour in the waiting room" and "an hour in the exam room" before being seen.
Rushed Patient Visits: Despite long waits, the actual patient visit is described as "very rushed for time" or "definitely less than 10 minutes."
Challenges with Patient Records: A long-term patient of the previous owner (Dr. Gold) reported that their file could not be found until they physically went into the office, indicating potential issues with record transition or access.
High Staff Turnover: It is stated that "the entire staff that worked for Dr. Gold have all quit due to the extraordinary poor management," pointing to significant internal management issues.
Perceived Misdiagnosis and Unprofessionalism: One reviewer alleges a misdiagnosis and describes an unprofessional mole removal experience, including "fearmongering" tactics and a procedure that left a "large, ugly scar with half the mole remaining."

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Gold sold the practice about a year ago. The doctor there now, Dr. Tassavor is very good, however he does not have anything to do with the ownership of the practice. He is knowledgeable and has a good bedside manner. That being said he is very rushed for time. I spent one hour in the waiting room while they ran my insurance. You can no longer make any direct phone calls to the office, you will be directed to a phone center that is obviously out of the country. I was a patient of Dr Gold for over ten years and they could not find my file until I physically went into the office. The entire staff that worked for Dr. Gold have all quit due to the extraordinary poor management. If you want to be treated like a person I recommend looking elsewhere. It’s a damn shame.
Jan 29, 2025 · Larry La RaiaDO NOT GO HERE. Worst experience in a doctor's office I've ever had. Waited for an hour in the waiting room, then an hour in the exam room just to see the NP - I forget her name - for a rushed visit (definitely less than 10 minutes). She took 1 cursory glance at my issue from a mile away, misdiagnosed me, and prescribed an OTC vitamin supplement (which the data indicate does NOTHING). Then I happened to mention a mole that I was mildly concerned about, and when I asked if I really need to take a biopsy, she said deadpan, and I quote, "You could die." Mind you, she hardly looked at it and it had all the obvious characteristics of a benign nevus (which the results corroborated). Come on. Fearmongering to make money off me. Then she proceeded to saw it off leaving a large, ugly scar with half the mole remaining. So unprofessional. Horrible, horrible experience. Did not remotely alleviate my concerns.
Aug 28, 2024 · Rosy TzurI have been seeing Dr.Gold for a little over 3 years now and he has been the only doctor to help me so far with my psoriasis and eczema. Dr. Gold took one look at my feet and was able to tell me that I had eczema as opposed to my other dermatologist who made me go through a biopsy just for it to come back inconclusive and told me to do another one. I immediately went to see Dr. Gold and he helped me, he prescribed me the proper medication. Ever since then I have been able to control my eczema and psoriasis thanks to his wonderful advice. As you can see in the photo I posted my eczema on my feet improved drastically once I saw Dr. Jonathan Gold. Dr. Gold truly does care for all of his patients. The staff in the office is always so helpful and they try to get me in there if it is an urgent matter. Thank you!
Mar 16, 2022 · Loren SalasHorrible experience coming here!!! First of all Tina is not a doctor. She’s a nurse.. She is rude and unprofessional. My mom was seeing her for her severe skin condition for many months and she misdiagnosed her… She said she had psoriasis when in reality she does not. (We went elsewhere for a second opinion) Tina kept playing guessing games with her and switching her medication every time they would not work on her. She also did not know what creams would work for her skin problem. She lacks a lot of knowledge. If my mom didn’t switch dermatologist on time she probably would have ended up killing her with all these guessing games with all these different injections which of course have side effects. Basically my mom wasted her time coming to her for many months. She is not friendly whatsoever, I would ask her a question and she would give me an attitude and will not listen to our concerns. Felt like I was annoying her. Also, She quickly leaves the room and does not answer all your questions. She sees patients only as a dollar sign and does not care about their health. She should get her license revoked!!. The wait time is also terribly long! Please do not come here if you’re looking to go to a dermatologist.
Feb 03, 2023 · MarielaIf I could give zero stars I would. My son didn’t even get to see the doctor. I scheduled an appointment gave all his insurance information. I asked the receptionist do you participate with this insurance she stated yes we do very firmly. Only to go in the office give his name and they tell me we don’t take your insurance your the fourth patient they scheduled today with that insurance. It blew my mind how they would tell me this. So they knew other patients had this problem why not check the schedule confirm patients insurance. Why make me waist time/ gas. They have a very incompetent staff. Make sure you triple check if they park with your insurance so they don’t make you waist your time as well.
