Dermatology Institute of Southern California Introduce
Introduction / Overview
The Dermatology Institute of Southern California, situated in Santa Monica, is a clinic that local Californians might consider for their skin health and aesthetic needs. Located at a well-known address, it presents itself as a hub for both medical and cosmetic dermatology. For those seeking services ranging from routine skin checks to advanced injectable treatments, the clinic's presence in a central part of the city suggests convenience and accessibility. The institution’s reputation is a mix of experiences, and for a local user, it is crucial to consider all available information to make an informed decision. While some patients may report positive outcomes and a professional atmosphere, others have shared significant negative feedback that highlights a need for caution. This overview aims to present a factual picture based on publicly available data, helping locals navigate their choices in the crowded aesthetic market of Southern California. The clinic is positioned to offer a wide array of services, but the quality of care and patient satisfaction can vary, making a thorough review of the provider's history and patient testimonials an essential step for any prospective client.
In the realm of patient experiences, the Dermatology Institute of Southern California has received detailed and concerning reviews. One customer, specifically discussing their experience with a Dr. Behroozan for injectables, expressed feeling "taken advantage of" and reported "botched" results from both Botox and lip fillers. The client described a "frozen, asymmetrical Botox face" and lips that were so overfilled they "still look messed up" six months later, with the "vermillion border breached." The review also mentioned being overcharged and experiencing a lack of apology or explanation from the doctor regarding the excessive amount of filler used. Another review described a similar lack of care regarding prescription refills for a medicine that didn’t work, along with receiving nonexistent referrals to other medical facilities. These reviews paint a picture of significant dissatisfaction and raise questions about communication, billing practices, and the quality of cosmetic procedures. For locals, these direct accounts are a vital part of the research process, offering a counter-narrative to standard promotional materials. The reviews suggest a discrepancy between the clinic's advertised services and the actual patient experience, which is an important factor for any Californian to consider when choosing a medical provider for cosmetic treatments, which carry both financial and aesthetic risks.
Location and Accessibility
The Dermatology Institute of Southern California is located at 2221 Lincoln Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405, USA. This address places it in a well-known, high-traffic area of Santa Monica. For locals, Lincoln Boulevard is a major artery, connecting various parts of the city and making the clinic relatively easy to find. Its central location makes it accessible for residents not only in Santa Monica but also in nearby communities like Venice and Marina Del Rey. The area is served by several public transportation options, including bus routes, which provides an alternative to driving for those who prefer it. For clients who do drive, there are typically parking options available in the vicinity, which is a convenience in a busy urban environment. However, the accessibility of a clinic does not equate to the quality of its services. For a local user, the ease of getting to the location must be weighed against the reports of poor patient care and unsatisfactory results, as a convenient location is of little value if the experience within the clinic is negative. Therefore, while the address is practical, it is only one part of the decision-making process for a prospective client.
Services Offered
- Injectable Treatments: The clinic offers services such as Botox and lip fillers, which are popular for reducing wrinkles and enhancing facial features. However, as noted in client reviews, the quality of these treatments can be a point of concern for some patients.
- General Dermatology: As a dermatology institute, the clinic would be expected to offer a range of medical services, including skin cancer screenings, acne treatments, and management of various skin conditions.
- Cosmetic Procedures: The clinic likely provides a variety of cosmetic services aimed at skin rejuvenation, such as laser treatments, chemical peels, and other non-surgical options.
- Patient Consultations: The process typically begins with a consultation to assess a patient's needs and recommend a course of action. However, reviews suggest that these consultations may not always lead to a satisfactory outcome, with one client mentioning a provider's disregard for their stated preference for "LESS than a full syringe" of filler.
- Prescription Management: The clinic provides prescriptions for various skin conditions. A review highlights a negative experience with this service, where a client received a prescription for a medicine they had already reported was ineffective.
Features / Highlights
- Central Santa Monica Location: The clinic’s address on Lincoln Blvd is a feature that provides convenience and accessibility for locals.
- Broad Range of Services: The clinic offers a wide array of both medical and cosmetic dermatology services, from general skin care to advanced injectable treatments.
- Professional Environment: A professional clinic setting is expected, which can be an initial point of attraction for new patients seeking specialized care.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
When considering the Dermatology Institute of Southern California, a local Californian must carefully evaluate the provided information. While the clinic’s central location in Santa Monica makes it physically accessible, the critical reviews from former patients raise serious concerns about the quality of care, particularly for cosmetic procedures and injectables. The reports of botched work, overcharging, and a lack of professional communication are significant red flags that should not be overlooked. For locals who prioritize safety, natural results, and a trustworthy patient-provider relationship, the reviews suggest that this clinic may not meet their standards. While it offers a range of services, the negative testimonials indicate a potential risk for dissatisfaction. Therefore, a local's suitability for this clinic is highly dependent on their willingness to accept these risks. The information presented here serves as a cautionary guide, urging prospective clients to thoroughly vet their providers and to seek out alternative options that have a more consistent track record of positive patient outcomes and ethical practices. The best choice for a Californian is a clinic that not only has a convenient location but also a flawless reputation for care, a standard that, based on available reviews, appears to be challenged in this instance.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I never leave bad reviews but I felt so taken advantage of here - Do NOT see Dr Behroozan for your injectables! He gave me frozen, asymmetrical Botox face and completely botched lip fillers. On top of that he overcharged me - his reasoning was they charge per site, not by the unit, but he charged me for fore fewer injection sites! (Whoops he didn’t even take the time to look at my record)He botched my lips so bad that they still look messed up. I specifically asked for LESS than a full syringe, and yet he still injected a full CC. No explanation or apology. I saw two dermatologist’s subsequently who both agreed my lips were overfilled and the vermillion border was breached. I looked like a duck they stuck out so bad. And the border still looks messed up (six months later). He did refund me for the botched lip injections (but not for the $500 I paid to have them dissolved). And he also added he thought it was probably fine (??!??)He urged me to give them another chance and said he’d throw me some free Botox if I did - so I made an appointment for crow’s feet only. Ended up charging me full price! And when I asked multiple times if he was going to honor the discounted Botox (the only reason I made the appointment) they said I had to pay full price and they’d contact me if the doctor intends to keep his word! (Haven’t heard back yet lol it’s been six months)
Jun 23, 2025 · Jori Lthey had me pay 400 dollars out of pocket to give me a refill of medicine I told them didn’t work and referred me to other medical facilities where doctor’s names they listed didn’t exist and some numbers weren’t even in service. When I called them back to let them know this then they referred me to UCLA who said they needed a referral, I called back this office and they said they don’t do referrals but they’ll “look into it”. Some of the worst care I’ve experienced.
Jan 15, 2025 · J AYou never see the actual dermatologist unless you need surgery. They will recommend treatments that don't work so you need to visit more and then up the bill.
Apr 23, 2025 · Stephen HaaseI would give this practice more than 5 stars if that was an option. I've been going here for years now. They're the nicest group of doctors and front office people you'll ever meet, and Doctor Behroozan is just awesome, both in his surgical skill and bedside manner. It's always a stress free experience without a long wait. Having an online patient portal and being able to confirm appointments via email link instead of phone is great too. Also, a (free!!!) parking lot is a perk in this area for sure.
Jan 10, 2023 · Erica OberinRude, impertinent, and ridiculous. Book an appointment and be on time to be told that you are late and be scolded like a child. Some kind of God complex going on with a loss of grasp that they are providing a service and that you are the customer. A ridiculous number of texts and calls to remind you of an appointment that they then don't keep. And the procedure was unnecessary anyway! Scammers. Beware.
