From an organizational perspective, as part of Valley Medical Center, the clinic likely aims to provide:

However, the provided customer reviews highlight significant areas that can impact a patient's experience, which may be perceived as "features" or defining characteristics from a user's perspective:
- Scheduling Challenges: A recurring theme in the reviews is difficulty in scheduling appointments, with long wait times (e.g., "2 to 3 months out") and issues with service area restrictions based on zip code. One patient's account describes being denied an appointment despite living within driving distance, indicating rigid scheduling policies.
- Communication Barriers: Reviews mention unresponsiveness from nurses to messages and difficulty securing prescription refills without a new appointment, suggesting potential communication breakdowns or operational bottlenecks in patient support.
- Perceived Lack of Patient Empathy: Patients express feeling disregarded or met with "cold indifference," especially concerning urgent needs like prescription refills when immediate appointments are unavailable.
- Ethical Concerns Raised by Patients: One review directly questions the ethical implications of denying care based on zip code and criticizes the "arbitrary nonsense" of their policies.
- Call Center as a Barrier: The call center is specifically identified as a "significant barrier to compassionate patient care," indicating that initial patient contact points may not be facilitating a positive experience.
For local Washington residents considering this clinic, it's crucial to weigh these reported experiences against the benefits of a medical center setting. For locals in Washington, specifically within the Renton area, the Dermatology Clinic - Renton - Valley Medical Center represents a local option for dermatological care as part of a larger medical institution. Its suitability for residents depends heavily on individual patient needs, expectations, and the specific nature of the care sought.
On one hand, the clinic's location at Times Square, 660 SW 39th St #150, Renton, WA 98057, USA, offers geographical convenience for those living in Renton and nearby communities. Being part of the Valley Medical Center system means it likely adheres to established medical protocols and standards, potentially offering access to a network of specialists if further medical attention is required beyond dermatology.
However, the suitability of this clinic for local users is significantly tempered by the consistent themes emerging from patient reviews. The challenges with scheduling, including long wait times (reportedly several months out) and perceived arbitrary restrictions based on zip code, could be a major hurdle for individuals seeking timely care or those residing in adjacent areas not explicitly deemed within their "service area." Furthermore, concerns regarding responsiveness from nursing staff and a perceived lack of empathy in patient interactions, particularly concerning prescription refills or urgent needs, are crucial considerations. For patients prioritizing immediate access, clear communication, and a highly patient-centric administrative experience, these reported issues may present significant drawbacks.
Therefore, while the Dermatology Clinic - Renton - Valley Medical Center does offer specialized dermatological services within the local community, it appears that potential patients should be prepared for what could be a challenging administrative process. For those with non-urgent dermatological needs who do not mind potentially long waits for appointments and are prepared to navigate a larger healthcare system's policies, it remains a local option. However, for residents in Washington seeking prompt care, seamless communication, or flexibility with service area boundaries, it would be prudent to thoroughly discuss these aspects with the clinic's staff upfront or explore alternative dermatological providers in the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been going to Valley for the last 10 years, specifically their Renton locations for the last 5 because I spend most of my time in Renton. However, I tried scheduling an appointment yesterday only to be told they won't schedule me because my address is in Federal Way. After much back and forth I asked the scheduler to "Tell me definitively: can I drive from Federal Way to Renton to see the doctor?" The scheduler said "Yes, we allow that." So I told her, "Then schedule me with the Renton dermatologist!" She said no, I'm not in their service area. I hung up on her because it was an absolute waste of time. I later found a different dermatologist that was able to see me within two days time, which is a much quicker turn around than any time I've EVER scheduled an appointment with Valley (Valley usually only has availability about 2 to 3 months out).I have no idea why Valley is suddenly refusing patients care based on their zip code - this has never been an issue for me, and frankly, I think it crosses some ethical boundaries. I have a family friend who works for Valley and has nothing but negative things to say about their behind-the-scenes operations. I have to admit that I didn't take them very seriously before, but after having this experience firsthand, I am never going back to Valley for any medical service of any kind. Terrible, unethical, arbitrary nonsense.Dear Valley: Your call center is a significant barrier to compassionate patient care. Do better.
May 07, 2025 · Adam CThis clinic truly earns its two-star reviews. It's apparent they have little to no regard for their patients' well-being. Nurses are unresponsive to messages, and securing a prescription refill is impossible without a doctor's appointment—even when the next available slot is three months away. Their lack of sympathy is chilling; I was told, with a cold indifference, that 'there's nothing we can do.'
Jun 12, 2025 · LucyThey won't even look at the calendar to give you estimated dates of an appointment without taking down all of your information. In the age of data breaches, be very careful and think twice before calling. They will not and have not removed my information. I didn't agree to them storing my information, and they now won't remove my information.
Jul 07, 2025 · creampuffI was surprised to see mid-level ratings for the Dermatology Clinic as my experience here has been outstanding. I got right in, my exam was fairly quick but thorough, and the doctor I saw was extremely pleasant! I've already scheduled my next appointment. Also, my dad saw a different doctor here and always had the same, great experience.
Jan 20, 2025 · Lisa BishopI’m really upset right now. I called to make an appointment with a dermatologist that takes my insurance, which is an hour away because that’s where my insurance told me to go. I’m breaking out in bad rashes and hives, so I was really hoping they could see me. But when I called, they said I’m too far away and won’t take me. It’s honestly crazy that I can’t get in just because of the distance! Not everyone can pay hundreds at a dermatologist so if you take someone’s insurance y’all should take them
