A small fraction of them will have skin diseases that cause itching for reasons that are complicated but that require intervention. An even smaller number of these people have metabolic or systemic diseases that frequently go unrecognized. These may include cancers in other parts of their bodies or deficiencies that require supplements. Itching is almost always worse at night. The reason for this is that there is so much stimulation during the day that the nerves that conduct the sensation of itching are suppressed. Right around midnight, however, there is almost no distraction (none if you are married) and itching increases.

MALIGNANT MELANOMA
It is projected that this most virulent of all skin cancers develops on the skin of 32,000 Americans annually. And every year an estimated 6,800 Americans will die from melanoma. It is important to note that the death rate is at last declining, because patients are seeking help earlier. Melanoma, like its less aggressive cousins, basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, is almost always curable in its early stages. Melanoma has its beginnings in melanocytes, the skin cells that produce the dark protective pigment called melanin. It is melanin that is responsible for suntanned skin, acting as partial protection against sun. Melanoma cells usually continue to produce melanin, which accounts for the cancers appearing in mixed shades of tan, brown and black. Melanoma has a tendency to spread, making it essential to treat.
Medical & Surgical Dermatology
Mohs Surgery
Patients with skin cancer can work with a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Kenneth Beer, to undergo a reliable procedure known as Mohs micrographic surgery as an effective treatment option. Mohs surgery is performed in an office setting using local anesthetic. Tissue is removed and oriented with colored dyes. This color-coding allows our physicians to determine where the top, bottom, left and right sides of the specimen are. After preparation in the laboratory, the periphery and underside of the specimen are evaluated. If cancer is seen at the margins of the specimen, more skin is removed from the patient at a site corresponding to the involved area. The tissue is again color coded and examined under the microscope. The process is repeated until no tumor is seen in any margin. This requires two or three stages in most cases.

I recently went to Dr Beer’s office in West Palm Beach Dermatology for fillers, I just love that office! Dr K. Beer is very busy, professional and is certainly a brilliant Dermatologist! He is always keeping everyone laughing at his funny jokes! Every member of their staff is so friendly and helpful! Jenn and Maria are terrific in having things ready for Dr Jacob Beer to conduct each procedure! He will officially be joining the practice in August and His work is outstanding! I love his bedside manners as he asks me continuously how I am feeling, do I have any questions etc. Every detail was done in such precision, I never had any bruising or pain! I absolutely love how I look now, totally refreshed! From now on I will only be going to Beer Dermatology!

I had an incredible experience with Dr. Jacob Beer! He was extremely gentle throughout the entire process, which made me feel comfortable and at ease right away. I had hyaluronic acid filler done on my lips, cheeks, and under-eye area and the results are absolutely amazing. Everything looks natural, refreshed, and beautifully balanced.
